NAWBO SJ Announces Keynote for 2015 Beyond the Glass Ceiling Awards & Gala

Dec. 3, 2014VOORHEES, N.J.The National Association of Women Business Owners, South Jersey Chapter (NAWBO SJ) is thrilled to announce that Pamela Slim, acclaimed author, speaker, business consultant and entrepreneur, will deliver the keynote at the Beyond the Glass Ceiling Awards Gala & Dinner on February 19th, 2015.  The annual awards gala, hosted by NAWBO SJ, is a dinner program that honors extraordinary individuals in the South Jersey region for their contributions to women and to women business owners.

A woman business owner herself, Pamela Slim embarked on her entrepreneurial path as a consultant to large companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Charles Schwab and Cisco Systems, where she worked with thousands of executives, managers and employees.  In 2005 she started the Escape from Cubicle Nation blog – a site designed for corporate employees who wanted to make the shift to entrepreneur.  Escape from Cubicle Nation is now one of the top career and business websites on the web.  Over the past eight years, Slim has developed and taught business building courses for thousands of entrepreneurs.  Her first book, aptly titled “Escape from Cubicle Nation”, won best small-business book in 2009 from 800-CEO-Read.  Slim is frequently quoted as a business expert in press such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Entrepreneur, Information Week, Money Magazine and Psychology Today.

12402089-pamela-slimPamela Slim’s keynote at the Beyond the Glass Ceiling Awards will center around her most recent book, “Body of Work: Finding the Thread that Ties Your Story Together,” which aims to give the reader the tools necessary to have a meaningful career in this new world of work; a world where jobs and careers are increasingly less stable and more diverse.

“2015 marks the 40th anniversary of NAWBO – an organization with an immense and rich body of work, rooted in helping and supporting women business owners across America,” notes Helena Duzenski, Director of Marketing for NAWBO SJ.  “Next year’s Beyond the Glass Ceiling awards will celebrate not only the immense body of work of the honorees, but also of NAWBO itself.  Pamela’s message in “Body of Work”, and the message of her keynote, couldn’t fit more perfectly into the intention of the ceremony.”

President of NAWBO SJ, Fran Davis, has been a longtime fan of Pamela Slim and was instrumental in securing her for the keynote.  “I was introduced to Pamela through her book ’Escape from Cubicle Nation,’ when I, like many other female entrepreneurs, was making the jump from corporate to business owner.  An Information Technology professional for over 15 years, it was scary to strike out on my own and start The Flavorful Fork, a personal chef business,” remembers Davis.  “The advice I received from Pam’s book, along with the support I received from the members of the National Association of Women Business Owners, gave me the confidence and help I needed to move forward. It was such a personal thrill for me to schedule a meeting in my calendar to speak directly with Pam about keynoting the Beyond the Glass Ceiling Awards Gala. Having followed her growth for the past four years, I am confident she will provide our audience with an inspirational and actionable talk about the new world of work.”

The 2015 Beyond the Glass Ceiling Awards Gala will be held at The Mansion in Voorhees, NJ.  In recent years, the event has drawn around 300 attendees, mostly business women and men from the South Jersey region who come to honor the nominees, network, enjoy a great night out, and be inspired by the keynote’s address.  Registration will be available soon.  Please check back athttp://nawbosouthjersey.org/ to purchase tickets.

The National Association of Women Business Owners is an organization that provides a supportive environment just for women to share the challenges we face and receive the advice and wisdom of those who have gone before us.”
