07.11.17 NAWBO Mixer Hosted By Parker McCay

Come mix and mingle with NAWBO South Jersey. On the first Tuesday evening of every month a NAWBO SJ member volunteers to host a fun and casual mixer. It is a great way for NAWBO members to learn more about each other and for non-members to to learn more about NAWBO.

This month’s mixer is being sponsored by Mariel Giletto and Parker McCay and will be held at Cater2U for a very special food event!

Member Spotlight: Victoria Devine

Victoria Ann Devine

Teacher of Students with Disabilities and Owner of Tutoring Business

Author of Santa’s Bully Elf and MacCarrig

Victoria Ann Devine is a teacher, owner of a private tutoring business, and author of the well-known children’s book Santa’s Bully Elf. She was a “Leading Lady” in South Jersey Magazine’s list of Most Notable Women, honored by Women of Distinction Magazine, and recognized by The Courier Post. Victoria is an advocate for many bullying organizations and promotes an anti-bullying message at elementary schools. Bullying is a global issue that can have long-term effects on a child, and her first book communicates the significance of this type of intimidation.

Victoria and her co-author share a passion for storytelling. Their oceanic collaboration MacCarrig encourages cooperation and friendship. Victoria writes books that help children appreciate diversity and accept others. In addition, Santa’s Bully Elf and MacCarrig each challenge children with an enhanced vocabulary. Readers will appreciate the figurative literary devices used throughout so they can truly create a visual image when they are reading.

Victoria is working on her third book, to be released in 2018. Sparky fans will love seeing this Golden Retriever back, with another clever twist.

Tutoring: Victoria launched her own tutoring business over ten years ago. She covers all of South Jersey including Atlantic and Cape May Counties.  Her goal is to provide academic enrichment not only for children with learning disabilities, but for students who struggle in a specific content area. Over the years, she has expanded her business to include students who are performing above level in all academic areas. These students are taught skills above their grade level. Victoria strives to improve a child’s confidence with public speaking.

Author Visit/Book Signing:  Currently booking author visits in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York (fundraisers, holiday expos, schools, PTA events, book stores, and libraries) Christmas 2017 at Salons: “Stories and Styles.”

What are your Future Goals?

Author visits and book signing events at schools, fundraisers, book shows, and book stores, and to continue building my tutoring business.

What is your favorite quote?

I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. “ – Thomas Jefferson

Do you have any Business Advise to offer?

Based on my experiences – I tended to be a softy, but I had to change – I learned to become a strong, confident, and effective business woman in order to get the results that I wanted!
